Converting from Crocodile Technology

real-PCB 2.0 can be used in two different ways:

  1. within Crocodile Technology 606 or later
  2. as standalone software

Using real-PCB with Crocodile Technology

Create a circuit using a PCB 3D space. Connect your circuit using the 2D view on the bottom of the space and then arrange the real-life views of parts in the 3D view on the top of the space.

When you are ready to create your printed circuit board, press the real-PCB button on the PCB 3D space toolbar. A screen opens, giving you three options:

  1. Quick option: This uses default settings to create your board. real-PCB will work in the background.
  2. Custom option: Choose your own board, placement, and routing settings. real-PCB will work in the background.
  3. Manual option: This opens real-PCB so you can manually create or edit your own PCB then send it back to Crocodile Technology.

Using real-PCB as standalone software

To open real-PCB as standalone software, use the shortcut in the Start menu. This will open real-PCB 2.0 in standalone mode, allowing you to create PCB designs manually. Note that you will not be able to send changes back to Crocodile Technology if you create them in standalone mode.
